40 Fire Helmets & 40 Fire Goggles to be Donated to a Deserving Fire Department

ESS Eye Pro Partners With Phenix Fire Helmets & The National Firefighters Endowment To Gift Vital Safety Equipment

In association with the National Firefighters Endowment, ESS Eye Pro is giving away 40 new NFPA-1971 compliant FirePro 1971™ firefighter goggles to a fire department in need. Based on the Profile NVG™, the world’s #1-selling military goggle, the all-new, NFPA compliant FirePro 1971™ goggles will be paired with 40 Phenix fire helmets and then donated to one deserving U.S. fire department.

Working with the National Firefighters Endowment and supported by ESS, Phenix Fire Helmets will undertake the task of identifying a winning department through a photo contest hosted on the popular social media site Facebook. Until March 1, 2013, interested departments can enter a photo at HelmetGrant.com for consideration. The photo contest will largely be decided by the community of fire service professionals and their supporters: votes accumulated by each participating department’s photo and story will be tallied on March 1st.  Thereafter, the National Firefighters Endowment and Phenix Fire Helmets will choose ten departments to evaluate, with the winner being announced at Phenix Technology booth 4143 on April 25, during FDIC 2013.

“We are excited to be working with ESS and Phenix on providing this critical equipment to a department in need. Their contribution will help protect the lives of at least 40 brave men and women protecting our families and homes,” said Shane Parkins, President of the National Firefighters Endowment.

The winning department will receive the new ESS FirePro 1971™ goggles and will be able to choose from one of two different types of Phenix helmets. "Dear ESS, On deployment in 2012, my vehicle was struck with an IED while performing route clearance in Afghanistan. The IED flipped my vehicle, knocking me unconscious and launching my rifle into my face. My cheek, nose, and eye socket were shattered from the impact, but my eye was saved from the ESS Crossbow I was wearing. When I put a pair of Crossbows back on, you can clearly see where I would have lost my eye if I wasn't wearing them." SSG Pronzati
