What ESS products are prescription compatible?
Nearly all ESS products are prescription compatible. All eyeshields and most goggles utilize an Rx carrier that clips behind the lens. Many of our sunglasses can be fitted with primary prescription lenses.
The U-Rx™ Prescription Insert is our most versatile prescription solution and is cross-compatible with all ESS eyeshields and the Profile™ and Influx™ goggles. It accommodates a prescription range of +8/-10. Single Vision lenses can be ordered online here. If you need Progressive lenses or have questions about our prescription solutions, email rxforms@esseyepro.com.
For prescription sunglasses, email rxforms@esseyepro.com and we will connect you with our partner optometrist. If your own optometrist fills your prescription, be sure to verify their certification and ability to install lenses that will meet ANSI Z87.1 impact standards.

I have a multi-focal prescription (Sphere and ADD values). What values do I use for a Single Vision U-Rx Insert lens?
U-Rx Insert prescription lenses can be made in Single Vision, to be used for Near or Distance vision correction. Multi-focal lenses are not available due to the small size of the insert. If your prescription is written for both near and distance correction, it’s best to consider what you want to use the eye pro for, then order the lenses with the correction best for your needs.
Distance Vision
If your prescription has (-) negative Sphere values, this is the correction that allows you to see better at a distance. If you want the insert for distance vision activities such as target shooting, omit the "Add Power” (ADD) portion of your prescription and enter only the distance sphere values, while keeping the cylinder and axis unchanged.
Example:
If a prescription reads:
OD: -2.00 Sphere / -0.75 Cylinder / 180 Axis / +2.50 ADD
OS: -1.50 Sphere / -1.00 Cylinder / 170 Axis / +2.50 ADD
The Distance single-vision prescription would be:
OD: -2.00 / -0.75 x 180
OS: -1.50 / -1.00 x 170
Near Vision
If your prescription also has an ADD measurement, this is the extra lens power needed for near correction. If you want the insert for near vision activities such as reading or working with handheld tools, add the ADD power to your distance sphere values, while keeping the cylinder and axis unchanged. ADD will always be a positive value.
Example:
If a prescription reads:
OD: -2.00 Sphere / -0.75 Cylinder / 180 Axis / +2.50 ADD
OS: -1.50 Sphere / -1.00 Cylinder / 170 Axis / +2.50 ADD
This is how you calculate the Near single-vision sphere from the prescription above:
OD sphere = -2.00 + 2.50 (ADD) = +0.50
OS sphere = -1.50 + 2.50 (ADD) = +1.00
The Near single-vision prescription would be:
OD: +0.50 / -0.75 x 180
OS: +1.00 / -1.00 x 170

Does ESS offer prescription eyewear solutions for any of its products?
Yes, ESS offers Rx solutions for nearly all of our eyewear products. I placed an order on your website. When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will not be charged until your order ships. When you initially place an order with ESS, our secure payment gateway performs a pre-authorization on your credit card. This pre-authorization allocates a portion of your card's line of credit towards your purchase from us. If we do not use this pre-authorization for some reason, (e.g., you cancel your order), the pre-authorized amount will be restored to your credit card's line of credit in 3-5 days.
How is tax calculated for my order?
In certain states, for any taxable products, you will be charged the appropriate sales tax based on where your order is shipped. ESS will not charge sales tax on your order if you are shipping to an APO/FPO address. if you have filed a tax exemption certificate with ESS contact us.
How can I track my order once it has shipped?
If you have ordered on esseyepro.com, an automated e-mail will be sent to you with a tracking number once your order has shipped. If you Log In, you can also find your order history in the My Account area.

Are your products covered by a manufacturer's warranty?

What is your return policy?
If any products that you have ordered direct from esseyepro.com do not fit, we are happy to help. We will accept the return of your as-new items in their original packaging for a full refund, or exchange them for credit toward another product on our website. In the latter case, you will be refunded the difference between your original purchase and exchanged items current retail value when the situation applies.
Products must be in as-new condition, and be returned to us within 30 days of the original the date of purchase. To receive credit for your return, you must contact ESS customer service at 877-726-4072 or email us to request a Return Authorization (RA) number. We are unable to credit you if you send back your order without a pre-authorized RA.

For ESS products purchased from authorized dealers, please contact the selling organization directly, as return policies vary. Are scratched lenses covered under warranty?
Scratched lenses are not covered under our manufacturer's warranty. However, ESS is the only sunglass manufacturer to offer you the Lens Contingency Plan™. With each original purchase of ESS eye pro, we offer a one-time 50% discount on a replacement for any user-damaged ESS lens. Do ESS lenses offer UV protection?
All ESS lenses filter 100% of harmful UVA/UVB rays. Even our clear lenses offer 100% UVA/UVB protection. UVC rays are filtered by the outer atmosphere and do not reach the Earth's surface.
How do Polarized lenses work, and how are ESS Polarized lenses different?
Polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces. Light travels in wave- form, arriving at our eyes in a spectrum of vibrations occurring in both vertical and horizontal axes. Most reflected visible light--such as the blinding glare associated with water, snow, pavement, automobile glass, etc.--travels in a horizontal direction.
Safety-rated ESS Polarized lenses contain undetectable, vertically-aligned filters that cancel out--via inference patter--these horizontal waves, dramatically improving your eyesight and reducing eye strain in many environmental conditions. Reflections from windshields diminish, perception of objects beneath water surfaces is improved as glare is reduced, and the harshness of overly-bright skies or landscapes is greatly mitigated.
ESS Polarized lenses are special in that they offer you the full-assurance of an ANSI-Z87.1-2015 safety rating.

Yes. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, we do not publish our LPL specifications. Is there a prescription option for the CDI MAX?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an Rx option for the CDI MAX™ due to the large size and significant curvature of the lens. If you are looking for an interchangeable prescription lens option, we recommend you consider the Credence™, 5B™, CDI™ or Crossbow®.
Product Care & Maintenance
How should I clean my ESS lenses?
Always refer to the product use & instructions card that came with your ESS eye pro, as specific instructions may apply. Gently wipe the lens with your provided ESS microfiber cloth, and/or gently wash with warm water. Never use household cleaning solutions, sprays, alcohol-based products, or solvents.
If I have trouble with my lenses fogging, what is the best solution?
Try using ESS Anti-Fog Drops (included in standard issue kits) and/or an ESS Anti-Fog Cloth (available in the Accessory product section of esseyepro.com).
