Prescription ESS Announces the new addition of Deputy Director, National Guard & Reserve:
Mr. Conley recently left a National Guard position in Washington DC as the Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major. He spent four years on active duty, 1982-1986, as an Army Ranger in the 2nd/75th Ranger Battalion in Ft. Lewis, Washington. When released from active duty, he joined the Oregon National Guard and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and then began a teaching career in the Fall of 1989. A true Citizen-Soldier, his primary occupation is a High School Chemistry/Physics Teacher, but since 9-11 he has done five tours on active duty. First as an Infantry CSM for 2-162 IN in Operation Iraqi Freedom II, 2003-2005. He was selected for the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team and they were mobilized for Stateside duty to assist with the recovery from hurricanes Katrina and Rita in September of 2005. He then deployed with the Brigade to Afghanistan to serve as the Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix V CSM, training the Afghan Army and Police in 2006-7, He returned to teaching in the 2007-8 school year.
In the summer of 2008, he was selected as the State Command Sergeant Major for the Great State of Oregon and served in that position for four years until OCT2012. He then was selected as the Army National Guard CSM and served in that positon for another four years until he came off orders in SEP2012. He and his lovely wife Laura, have returned to their beloved Oregon and their five sons and granddaughter. He is very excited to be able to join the ESS team, the best in the business. He hopes that his experience as an Airborne/Ranger/Infantryman and Senior Leader in the Army National Guard can help ESS bring the best product to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. He especially hopes that his National Guard service will help equip National Guardsmen and Reservists with the best protective eye-wear in the world.
